Join us at the Citizens Theatre for A Night to Remember! This community production takes audiences back in time to our building’s origins as the Royal Princess’s Theatre:
“Every theatre has got ghosts. Well this one has got more than most.”
As the Citizens closes its door for the next two years for a major redevelopment, the Gorbals Ghosts have got the place to themselves. So it’s time for a bit of 1918 style entertainment! But another kind of memory gets awakened by the songs and stories of a hundred years ago.
The story of Glasgow in the First World War is also the personal story of the Donaldson family and what became of them in the trenches of Flanders and back home in the streets and pubs and munitions factories of the Second City of the Empire.
Drawing on texts of the time from casualty lists to advertisements, with songs, jokes and a bit of mind reading, join a company drawn from the Gorbals and across Glasgow (and a few ghostly presences) for A Night to Remember, where telling the truth about the past is a matter of life and death.
To book tickets call 0141 429 0022 or visit citz.co.uk. You can also buy your tickets in person at the Citizens Theatre Box Office at 119 Gorbals Street.
A Night To Remember will be the final production presented by the Citizens before we undergo a major two-year redevelopment. But don’t worry, you’ll still be able to enjoy Citizens Theatre productions at nearby Tramway. Find out more about our redevelopment project at wearecitizens.citz.co.uk.
