North Gate Development Oct 15, 2020

Work has started on the new North Gate development on Crown Street.

Our contractor CCG began work on site on the 14th September 2020, and we expect the project to take roughly 14 months to complete.

Standing at 7 storeys tall, North Gate will have 33 properties in total, a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats.

CCG are currently carrying out foundation works, which will continue until early spring 2021. The installation of the steel frame will begin in November.

There will be an increase in traffic to and from the site as a result of these works. The contractor has put strict protocols in place for traffic management to and from the site, and on-site staff have been given instructions to park elsewhere.

There will be two main delivery drop-off points at the site, and three delivery routes.  The main drop-off point is on Crown Street and the second point is on Laurieston Road.

CCG have reviewed the access roads to the development, and have designated Old Rutherglen Road via Commercial Road as the main delivery route. This has been chosen as it is the shortest route through a residential area, minimising the number of homes that construction traffic need to pass.

They have also applied to Glasgow City Council for a permit to close the lane on Laurieston Road for the duration of the works. This permit would allow temporary closure of the lane between 9am-3pm. This delivery point on Laurieston Road will be able to accommodate deliveries of steel and scaffold, but is not suitable for some types of deliveries and machinery required for the works.

New Gorbals Housing Association and CCG are aware of the inconvenience that deliveries can cause to residents in the immediate area, and we are working to keep this to a minimum.
