Seed & Tree Festival Feb 06, 2016

Common Good Food and Helping Britain Blossom bring you this unique day of celebration, practical workshops and planning for national political action.

In dark times the best thing to do is have a party, and winter can be long and difficult. You are invited to this event at the St Francis Centre on the 6th February to celebrate the lengthening days and make radical plans for the 2016 growing season.

There is a full and exciting line up for the day, as detailed in the line up below:

10am - 4pm A Day of Seeds And Trees

Tickets are £5 (children free) and include lunch and access to all workshops and activities. Sessions will include;

  • Practical workshops in seed saving and orchard skills.
  • Discussion and planning sessions - can we set up a network of seed savers in Scotland? Do we need a national seed collection for Scotland?
  • Lunchtime seed swap and stalls
  • Meeting of the Orchard Collective Scotland
  • Crafts, games, and family friendly activities.

4- 6pm Lantern Procession and Wassail

Join a lantern procession to the nearby Gorbals Rose Garden Orchard for some Wassailing. This is an ancient custom of singing songs of well wishing to the trees to ensure a good harvest, and making a huge racket to ward off any evil that might befell the trees. A great chance for fire, hot mulled apple juice, music and fun! Family friendly, free, and all are welcome.

6-10pm Curry and Ceilidh

£15 full price, £12 concession, £10 Gorbals residents, children free.

A merry end to an action-packed day. Curry prepared by Babu Bombay Street Kitchen using seasonal local veg will be served at 6pm, followed by a rousing ceilidh with Annasach. There will be a bar serving local wines, cider, craft ales and soft drinks.  Children are welcome to the ceilidh.
