Dispose of your Electrics Safely this Winter Dec 02, 2024

We are asking you to please dispose of any unwanted electrical items safely this winter, to avoid any accidents or fires.

Electrical items which use lithium-ion batteries, such as laptops and e-scooters, should not be placed in the regular household waste. This is because heat and damage of these batteries can cause fires or battery explosions.

Instead, please dispose of these batteries at Polmadie Waste Recycling Centre, 425 Polamdie Road, G42 0JP

We also ask that you dispose of non-rechargable batteries (like AA and AAA) at recycling points for the same reasons.

The below video, from The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), shows the dangers and impact of disposing of batteries or electrical items in normal waste bins.
