The aim of our Tenants’ Panel is to give tenants a collective voice over local housing and community issues and to act as a sounding board and advisors for any new ideas or proposed changes to the housing service.
The Panel meets once a month with the Tenant Participation Officer and other key staff members depending on the agenda, on a Tuesday evening, (except July), to discuss and influence key decisions, such as our policy reviews, rent increases and performance. In 2024 they are working on the Tenant Participation and Engagement Strategy and the Housing Allocation Policy.
Find out more about The Role of the Tenants Panel. Support is provided for anyone who would like to take part, including individual preparation time with meeting papers in advance and any other additional support, for example interpreters or childcare.
If you are interested in joining the Panel please contact Susan Burn on 0141 429 3900 or email susan@newgorbalsha.org.uk or text/phone 07971 819780. We would love to hear from you.
We have a number of local tenants and residents groups and in the summer 2024 they are all planning to meet up to share what works well in their area.
The Waterside Residents Association is a group of owners who meet to discuss service standards with us and any other related housing and neighbourhood issues.
If you would like to find out more about any of these groups and when they are next meeting please contact Susan Burn on 0141 429 3900 or email susan@newgorbalsha.org.uk or text/phone 07971 819780.
Joining a tenants and residents group does not suit everyone, so we have a “Your Views List”, which is a list of interested tenants who are happy to be consulted by us on a range of issues.
This could include reviewing policies, input into service delivery or being consulted on community events. You can be contacted by phone, email or post and can give your feedback in the way which suits you best. You can be involved in as much or as little as you want and as often as you like. We will also send you a monthly bulletin which lists the Community and Tenant Participation events for the coming month.
To join the Your Views list please contact Susan Burn on 0141 429 3900 or email susan@newgorbalsha.org.uk or text/phone 07971 819780. We would love to hear from you.
If you are interested in working to improve service delivery, please get in touch for a chat about joining the New Gorbals Scrutiny Group.
This is an independently facilitated group who work on individual projects to scrutinise New Gorbals Housing Association’s (NGHA) processes from a tenant or customer point of view.
For example, the group might choose to look at the repairs process, the close cleaning process, or the allocations policy and process. They then carry out research involving speaking to tenants to hear if their experience matches the written policy and process, looking at data, visiting sites and speaking to staff. The Group will then produce a report with any recommendations for improvement which will be put to NGHA’s Senior Management Team to respond to and implement as appropriate.
Each piece of work can take between 6-12 months. The group currently meets once a month on a Tuesday evening from 6pm-7.45pm in the Housing Office at 200 Crown Street. The group can have a maximum of 12 members. Sandwiches and refreshments are provided. Support for group members is also provided by the NGHA Tenant Participation Officer, although the work itself is supported independently by the external agency: Tenants’ Information Service (TIS).
To find out more or arrange to come along to see what meetings are like and if this type of work is for you, please contact Susan Burn on 0141 429 3900 or email susan@newgorbalsha.org.uk
