Home / Finding a Home – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

At New Gorbals Housing Association, we manage around 2,500 social housing properties. However, only a small number of these are available for let each year. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions below to find out more about how we let our homes.

We also have a small number of mid-market rent properties through our subsidiary company New Gorbals Property Management. These properties are let in a different way to our social housing stock. Please see our Mid-Market Rent page for more information on these homes.

If you would like to apply for a home, please pop into our office to pick up a housing application form.

Alternatively we can post a form to you. Existing tenants can apply for transfers through the same form.

Call us on 0141 429 3900, or email us at admin@newgorbalsha.org.uk to arrange a form to be sent out.

We receive your application and aim to process it within 10 working days. Following this, you will receive a letter with your total points entitlement and then placed on the appropriate housing list.

Applicants are assessed on housing need, and are allocated a home based on the number of points they have. How long you wait for a home with us depends on your individual circumstances and points total. Please get in touch if any of your circumstances change, so we can update your application appropriately.

If you have a very low number of housing points, it’s unlikely you will be offered a home with us. If this is the case we will let you know once we have processed your application.

If we have already been in touch to notify you of your points total and housing options, we will only be in touch again to make you an offer of a home. If we have not been in touch, there is no further update on your current application status.
