Beware of Winter Heating Allowance Scams

We are asking our tenants and residents to be cautious as bogus calls and messages about heating payments are on the rise.

Fraudsters have been posing as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and asking people to fill in information to apply for “winter heating allowance.”

However, the DWP and other official government departments will never ask you for personal or sensitive information via text or email.

If you receive an unexpected message about heating payments, please be cautious. If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, please:

• Do not click any links
• Do not share any personal information
• Do not share any financial information
• Check directly with the organisation through their official website or telephone number
