Winter Tips to Prevent Leaks and Burst Pipes
Winter is a common period for leaks and burst pipes, largely due to the cold weather. Here are some tips to help avoid any issues this winter:
Keep a consistent temperature in your property
We know that energy bills seem to always be on the rise but it’s important to keep at least a low heat in your property to prevent freezing. A minimum temp of 14 degrees is recommended.
Circulation
Allow warm air to circulate all rooms in your property even if there are some rooms/areas you don’t use
Leaking taps and drips
if you notice this in your property, it is important to let us know so we can have this resolved for you. Even a small drip can contribute to a frozen drain or pipe in winter.
Know where your stopcock is
You should be aware of the location of the stopcock in your property in the event of an emergency. Keep the area around it clear and ensure you know how to use it to turn the water off if its needed.
Outdoor tap?
Disconnect any hoses and drain them to make sure nothing freezes within the pipework that connects it.
