NGHA Conference Hailed a Success by Tenants

Description:

We were delighted to welcome more than 75 tenants to a hugely successful Tenant Conference on Saturday 28th March 2026.

This year the conference focused on investing in the future, and covered  both how the Association plans to maintain its stock, and how tenants can become involved in shaping the future of the Gorbals.

The Association’s Head of Maintenance, Tracey McCauley,  presented on how NGHA is currently investing in its properties, and how it plans to invest over the next 5 years.

Speaking of the investment work being undertaken, Tracey said:

“We are often asked by tenants when they are likely to receive an upgraded kitchen or bathroom, so today’s presentation was about how  we go about replacing major components like kitchens and bathrooms, and how this fits with our wider maintenance operations.”

This year’s conference built on the last event, which took place in October 2024. NGHA Director, Fraser Stewart, shared a presentation which updated tenants on the Association’s progress and plans, with a number of new build projects under construction or in the pipeline since the last conference.

Speaking about the conference, Chair of the Association, Jean Miller, said:

“I was delighted to see so many tenants engage with the Association today. Everyone who attended the conference showed a real interest in what Association is doing, and how we can all work together to improve the Gorbals.”

A number of NGHA tenants and residents also stood up to share how they are involved with the work of the Association and how important tenant participation opportunities are to them.

Tenants can participate and/or volunteer in a capacity that suits them, from supporting community events like the Gorbals Fair to joining the Tenants Panel or Management Committee to help shape the work of the Association.

Following table discussions, many tenants said they were pleased with the conference programme and the information shared on the day.

One tenant said: “I’m inspired by the passion of New Gorbals Housing Association and I’m so proud to be an NGHA tenant.”

While another noted that the conference is: “a good way to meet other tenants, know more about the New Gorbals and find out what is happening in the community.”

We now plan to work through all the feedback gathered on the day to help inform future conferences and tenant engagement events.
