Join us for Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Spring Clean and the Big Clyde Clean Up!
We are once again taking part in Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Spring Clean and we would love you to join us on our litter picks.
This year we will be hosting a litter pick each Friday for the duration of the Spring Clean, which runs from Friday 13th March to Friday 24th April 2026.
Each litter pick will be held in a different area of Gorbals, in partnership with other local organisations including Adelphi Nursery, Crossroads Barn, and Oatlands Community Hub. A light lunch will also be provided after each pick.
Out litter pick on Friday 17th April will also be part of the Big Clyde Clean Up, in partnership with Glasgow City Council. The Big Clyde Clean Up aims to improve the river corridor by tackling litter and pollution, through a range of clean-up activities along the length of the river.
Local resident, Veronica, shares why she is taking part:
“Living in the high flats you see things in a different way from just walking around, and the amount of rubbish blowing into our river is getting worse.
“So instead of just moaning about it I decided to do something about it!”
Details of the weekly litter picks are as follows:
| Date | Meeting location |
| Friday 13th March | Oatlands Community Hub |
| Friday 20th March | Crossroads Barn |
| Friday 27th March | St Francis Centre |
| Friday 10th April | Citizen’s Theatre |
| Friday 17th April | 12 Commercial Court |
| Friday 24th April | NGHA office, 200 Crown Street |
Each of the litter picks takes place from 10.30am and will last for around an hour before heading back to NGHA office for a light lunch.
If you would like to join in on any of our planned litter picks, please contact Tenant Participation Officer, Susan Burn, on 0141 429 3900 or susan@newgorbalsha.org.uk
Tenants and residents are also welcome to borrow our litter picking equipment outside these times, if you wish to conduct your own litter picks.
